It’s fair to say the tech sector is made up of a pretty diverse cross-section of people, but if you’re one of the more introverted tech-types out there, maybe it’s time you got out more – and let’s face it, most of us could probably do with to getting out more.
Here are a few upcoming Liverpool web developer and tech meetups which will help you keep up with the cutting edge while interacting with others in what, cyberpunk novelist, William Gibson once called the ‘meatspace’.

Liverpool GIRL GeeKs
The Liverpool Girl Geeks run a monthly Women <3 Tech meet up at The Shed on the Baltic Creative Campus. The next one is May 8th from 6 PM to 8PM. It will centre around a panel debate on Young People in Tech.

Liverpool Tester Gathering
Taking place at 6:30PM on Thursday, Apr 27, at the Tempest Building on Tithebarn Street, this meet will see Claire Reckless of Avecto give an expanded version of the lightning talk she delivered there in November, and Jit Gosai of the BBC will be discussing automation.

We grown-ups can get into the act as well. The Studio is also putting on a “Guerilla.net Academy” on the same day and time – 6 May from 11Am to 2PM at the CUC Building. Here, the focus will be on coding applications for business and professional app development.

The best of the rest
The University of Liverpool runs a free lecture series. The next one is called “A Fatal Attraction? Why people are fascinated by robots & what to do about it”. Professor Kerstin Dautenhahn from Hertfordshire will discuss how robots will and won’t fit in to modern life. It will be held at the Victoria Gallery and Museum on Monday June 19th from 5PM to 7:30PM.

The Liverpool & Sefton Chambers of Commerce hold regular Tech Tuesday events. The next one is on the 25th from 3:35PM to 5PM, and will focus on ‘converting clients’ using recently developed technologies.
The event is held at Ziferblast, 4 St Pauls Square. T is free for members, but non-members will have to pay £15 per person. More details and booking links can be found here.
